Hotel Del Coronado Ride

Boyet Zamora, a Pinoy Harley member ask me if we could ride together on a Saturday. I said yes we can ride anytime he wants. So, I made pans for our ride. We thought of riding up north like going to Highway 1 towards Hearst Castle. But he lives in Buena Park and I thought of other members who are in those areas that might want to join us on this ride. So I decided to ride to Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego instead. Boyet agree with me and he said Angie might come too. I sent an email invitation to our Pinoy Harley Yahoo group email to inform everyone of this ride which will be on a Saturday of August  25, 2012. Meet up at Bamboo Bistro, West Covina at 8:00 am and kickstand at 8:30 am.

Hotel Del Coronado Riders. From left: Rey (Bong) Rabago, Boyet Zamora, Bing Bautista, myself, Wilbert Perez, Jun de Leon and Michael Lacanilao. Jun De Leon and Bing Bautista is not riding with us but showed up to have breakfast and support our ride.

I left my house at about 6:30 am., Saturday, August 25, 2012, and ride towards West Covina. When I get there, I fill up my bike at a Chevron gas station then ride about a minute to Bamboo Bistro Restaurant, a buffet style restaurant serving Filipino foods. I got there at about 7:30 am., and found Boyet, Wilbert and Bing having their breakfast. Soon to arrive are Jun, Rey and Michael. At about 8:30 am., we started preparing to leave, Jun and Bing is not riding with us, they just showed up to eat breakfast with us and show their support for this ride.

We left Bamboo Bistro Restaurant and head towards Fwy 60 going South on Nogales Street. We took the Fwy 60 East, went south on Fwy 57 to Fwy 5. We encounter heavy traffic as we approach Fwy 5 so we make a detour and took the Fwy 22 East then Fwy 55  South to Fwy 5. To make this ride a little more exciting, I exit on Hwy 74 and took the Ortega Highway towards Lake Elsinore to cut across Fwy 15. This winding road is really exciting to ride with it's twisties and breathtaking views of the Lake Elsinore at the summit. You can see the whole Lake Elsinore to your left from the top even if you don't stop on your ride. Going down the hill from the summit, we continue on Hwy 74 towards Fwy 15 then head South until it meet with Fwy 5.
